icddr,b is a non- profit organization that allows to manage, preserve and showcase its scientific outputs for freely accessible to global community. icddr,b’s Institutional Knowledge Repository (IKR) is an online and open access database for collection and sharing of new knowledge produced by icddr,b staff, fellows, and visiting researchers, in which published articles, abstracts, technical papers, protocols after completion of programme, and other icddr,b publications are stored in digital format.

Copyright issues

icddr,b repository is an online archive for depositing scholarly published reading materials and icddr,b Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved but otherwise unpublished protocols. The copyright license of any item deposited in the repository must allow for the icddr,b author to make it available for reuse. Examples of such are Creative Commons copyright licenses by which authors retain copyright, or copyright agreements by which copyright holders (such as the publisher) allow for reuse including publication or deposition in a repository.

License to use of IKR website

You may view, read and download any item available in the IKR for education and research purposes only, and print pages from the website, provided that:

(a) From this website you should not republish, reproduce or store materials to any public or private websites;
(b) You must not reproduce any documents from this website for commercial purposes.

Preservation procedures

Only icddr,b scientists, researchers, fellows, visiting researchers, trainees and other staff members are eligible for submitting documents in the IKR. The icddr,b Library will create stable URLs for deposited digital contents that are uploaded and preserved in the IKR with the support of IT Unit. Authors must comply with external publishers’ policies on copyright issues that would be verified by the Library for correctness and they must have permission of the copyright holder to grant their rights to reproduce, adapt, electronically communicate and distribute the materials in order to make them available to end-users in the digital repository. IKR shall immediately disqualify any publication if proof of copyright violation is found. The icddr,b IKR is owned by icddr,b, and supported by icddr,b IT Unit, the Library and Information Services (LISS) is the process owner.
