The severity of group A rotavirus (RV) diarrhea was compared with that of mixed infections of RV with diarrheagenic Escherichia coli, Vibrio cholerae O1, and Shigella species by a scoring system. The severity of mixed infections of RV and E. coli was the same as that of infections with RV alone. RV infections mixed with V. cholerae and Shigella species mimicked cholera and shigellosis, respectivelyen
